LOTUS NEWS BULLETIN
Honolulu, June 27, 2010
By this time many of us have come to know of what happened to the sacred Healing Stones at Wahiawa on the island of Oahu on Friday, June 11. On that day a local group claiming rights to the Healing Stone removed the Healing Stone from its present location and took it to an undisclosed place for reasons of their own. What was believed to be a sanctum for three stones resembling Shiva, Ganesha and Nandi by the Hindus has now become an empty space. For the last 22 years, they have been worshipping the largest Stone as Shiva lingam. They assembled for puja on the third Sunday of every month. The incident was a devastating blow to those who regularly visited and worshipped at the Healing Stone.
Faith brought the community together. Their grief and disappointment can be easily understood. LOTUS a non profit organization, took care of the temple site improvements, organized the puja and kept the place clean and attractive for all visitors to the Healing Stone. The Board of directors of LOTUS held a meeting at the temple site on Sunday June 20th. They decided unanimously to continue with the puja on the third Sunday of every month at the site. This was in keeping with the spirit, unity and enthusiasm expressed by the devotees, who were present that day and witnessed the puja conducted outside the usual sanctum. The Board of directors also decided to move forward to make permanent arrangements after meeting with the present owner of the Healing Stone site. The Indian community and the visitors at the Healing Stone site will be kept informed of the progress of improvements by direct mail or through this website.
